IKEA, a Swedish retailer that specializes in making home furnishings available to
customers in different nations plans to establish its store in India. For the past 28 years, the
company has been sourcing products from India and selling them to clients from other countries.
Some of the products include carpets, bamboo, coconut fibers, mango jute and acacia. The
company is popular across the globe for its effort to offer clients furniture. On the contrary,
despite its effort to establish a store in India, it has to work on making sure that customers in the
country opt to purchase its products rather than the readymade furniture. The majority of the
Indian people are used to purchasing readymade furniture, and thus, IKEA might have a hard
time convincing customers to buy its products. This paper offers a background of IKEA which
includes its mission and vision statement as well as a history of the company.
