Project 2 Early Draft Questions
Instructions: Answer all questions below. In your answers, address both images you will be
analyzing. For example, in your answer regarding ethos, identify ethos in both images.
1. Name your stakeholder organization and explain what they do or stand for—that is, what
is there stake in your topic?
My stakeholder company is Google. Founded in 1998. Google is an American
technology giant that provides internet services and products to millions of users
worldwide. The company has gradually grown from only providing software services but
now they have also invested in hardware. Some of its products are emailing Gmail services,
cloud computing and online advertisement. Google launches different services and
products often. They have invested heavily on advertisement techniques that will maximize
on marketing their products and services. A good example of marketing techniques is the
use of graphical artworks and photos that give them an edge. The photos in this illustration
are good example of how Google uses photos to convey a certain message.
2. What is the purpose or goal of each of your images—that is, what do the images ask the
audience to do, feel, or understand? What are the images trying to accomplish?
To keep afloat in the dynamic business, google has invested a lot in hardware
products. In the first image Google is launching phone model. This phone model is one of
its pixel smartphone generation. The purpose of this image is marketing this new phone
model to its potential customers. Most of Google users who had an experience of using
Google online platforms like online advertisements would gladly like to use a Google
phone product. This image is also an instrumental marketing technique due to the caliber
of competitions they face in phone production. Some of the renowned companies are
Samsung and apple which has been in the market for long. The audience of this image
expects that the hardware will match the efficiency that Google had in its software services
and products.
In the second image Google is advertising one of its 3D image glasses. Since 2010,
Google has shifted part of its focus on inventing classy hardware devices which include
laptops phones and now including the new 3D glasses. This Google glasses provide a
unique view since it’s a combination of a translucent reflective service in each eye piece
displaying images in a similar way to how a projector does. This safety glasses are designed
to revolutionize how people watch.in this second image we can see a lady viewing very
clear images using Google glasses. This will excite potential customers who would want
to have such an experience. Google is renowned for its high standard quality of products
and services. Users of this glasses expect them to meet the Google standards of quality.
3. Identify elements of ethos in each of your images. For the images to be effective, the
audience must believe that they are truthful or that the information is accurate or credible.
What specific design elements are there to establish credibility or trust?
In the first image Google has strived to achieve good strategy in persuasion. Google
users have overtime enjoyed a wide range of products and services offered with the
company. Google logo is prominent in all its products and services. The use of google logo
in this image is set to provide credibility and cement that this is a good product. Putting a
logo in this image is a constant reminder that indeed it’s a Google product and it meets
standard quality.
In the second image, it has a clear illustration of the experience of using the glasses.
The lady in the image can view the screen clearly. This is another strategy by Google to
illustrate that their product is credible and it serves its purpose.
4. Identify elements of pathos in each of your images. What specific elements are designed
to make the audience feel something, and what is that specific feeling?
The first image illustrates a Google pixel smartphone. In this era of technology
almost everyone is using a smartphone. Google is a company that makes the android
operating system that makes the android software of most of the phones uses today. That’s
being the case users of the android will be more inclined into using a Google smartphone.
The image of the slick phone and it being named pixel elicits emotions to the viewers that
the phone will have good camera quality.
In the second image, the audience will be curious to try out the new glasses because
of the clarity they offer to the viewers. The glasses are set to give new experience to
potential customers. This makes it great to use them.
5. Identify elements of logos in each of your images. Remember that logos is the appeal to
logic/reason. What specific elements are designed to make the audience think about
something, or supply information that the audience may be unaware of, or understand a
new or different position or aspect of an issue?
The first image is set to give reasons to give why they should invest in a Google
pixel smartphone is that because the image illustrates a super slim smartphone that is super
convenient to its users more so being a product of the Google company. However, in the
second image I lack to see the logic or reason the image is set to convey to the audience.
6. Identify elements of kairos in each of your images. What specific elements are used to give
the audience the sense of urgency or timeliness?
In the first image, Google pixel has undergone a revolution ranging from invention
of new products and services. With the pixel generation smartphone, the audience
anticipates that the phone will withstand the test of times and remain relevant to the coming
generation.
In the second image despite the existence of several companies offering 3Dglasses,
the Google glasses seems more convenient and are bound to exist for a long time. This is
due to Google’s mastery in surviving in the dynamic tech industry.
