1. Define the term Digital Divide and explain in your own words what do you
understand by this term. Discuss three ways in which we can bridge digital divide.
Digital divide is a term that is used to show the rift between people and areas that have
access to gadgets used I information communication technology and those who do not have
access to them. It also includes the gap between people and regions that have access to the
internet and those who do not have it or whose access is unreliable and limited. The gadgets
whose access is used to show the extent of digital divide include: Computers, telephones, cell
phones and television.
Digital divide in the entire population as a whole is observed among specific groups.
They include: people in rural areas and those in urban areas, those who are learned and those
who are not, developed and developing countries and the rich and the poor. This is because the
mentioned factors of: urban or rural setting, education level, level of development and socioeconomic status have an influence on the access and affordability of tools of information
communication technology. Digital divide can also be described a s the difference in the quality
of the information communication technology between those who have access to it. This
difference occurs as a result of differences in performance of the gadgets used and the quality of
internet connections.
This gap can be bridged by government policies which offer affordable access to
information communication technology, increasing levels of literacy by incorporating
information technology from grade school and networking with people on the lower end of the
digital divide to hear suggestions on how they think they should be helped.

2. Describe how your personal ethics was developed. We know that family; culture,
religion, and life experiences play a role in developing your moral rules or values. Describe
how these all four play a role in developing your personal ethics or ethical behavior.
Personal ethics are a determinant of moral compass and therefore it is important for a
person to have strong personal ethics. I developed my personal ethics from my family whereby I
was taught what is right and what is wrong. I was punished for doing wrong things. As a result, I
was aware of what is right and what is wrong and the consequences of each. Besides my parents
telling me what is right and wrong, they set an example for me in line with the same. For
example, my parents avoided using abusive words and held themselves to the same ethical
standards they held me up to. As a result, my personal ethics were largely influenced by how my
parent conducted themselves.
My religion was also quite influential in shaping my personal ethics. Religious laws
stated in the scriptures and they define what is right and what is wrong. My religion has a
promise of a reward for good deeds and for obeying the spiritual laws. As a result, I felt
motivated to follow these standards of behavior set in the scriptures in order to achieve the
promise reward. Spiritual beliefs are taken seriously by many people and as a result, they have a
great influence on the personal ethics a person develops. This is because even when religion
encourages violent acts, people still follow them due to the strong belief I the religion and the
deities in the given religion.
Culture includes norms and generally accepted standards of behavior. As a result, I had to adapt
to the culture of behavior in my surroundings either in the neighborhood or at school to be in
good terms with other people. Personal experiences shaped my personal ethics. I once saw a
