Premenstrual dysphoric disorder commonly abbreviated as PMDD is an austere type
of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Similar to PMS, premenstrual dysphoric disorder adheres to a
predictable, cyclic outline. Symptoms start in the late luteal stage during the menstrual
cycle subsequent to ovulation and conclude soon after menstruation commences ((Halbreich,
Borenstein, Pearlstein &Kahn, 2003). In the days subsequent to their period, women go
through abdominal pain, are irritable and sad or feel bloated as well as sore.
