The purpose of the assignment is to:
- Give students the opportunity to synthesize and apply the concepts learned in this and previous coursework to analyze a real-world scenario
- Improve students’ understanding and ability to think critically about HR issues and strategies using a real life scenario.
- Understand, analyze, and diagnose HR practices and stratgies

The written case study analysis must be at least 3 pages typed, double spaced, 12-point font, and 1-inch margins. A separate cover page and a citation page.
Case studies should follow the following format:

- Consistency between Strategy and HR Practices

Company Introduction
In 2007, Kristen Chambers, a devotee of spa treatment, noted that the spa industry had
multiple opportunities and after doing some research, decided to tap into the industry while
specifically focusing on meeting the needs of spa customers who would wish for a regular basis
spa service without devoting too much time or money on spa vacations. The spa, which opened
in 2009, differentiated it’s self from other spas by emphasizing on health benefits of spa
treatments and focusing on building strong customer relations. The company counted on a well
skilled labor force which would serve as specialists in spa treatment as well as wellness coaches
(MICHAEL BEER, 2012). The skilled labor was expected to utilize the available time due to the
slow business during the first months, to acquire the necessary training and skill development in
order to support the coaching philosophy adopted by the spa.
