In "Divided We Stand" you read about issues during the 2000 presidential election that created create tension within the nation. Now, you will identify an issue you feel is dividing the United States. Use the internet and local library to research your issue. Among other things, you should look for the history of the issue, court cases (state or federal), proposed or enacted constitutional amendments (state or federal), and public opinion polls regarding the issue. Be sure to evaluate your sources carefully and avoid Wikipedia or other online dictionaries.

Share your idea and initial thesis with your teacher for feedback. An outline or first draft is required before completion of the final draft.

cannot guarantee a hundred percent cooperation with each State. One of the issue that
I believe which divides the United States is the lack of political will from the politicians.
These politicians are hungry over power and control in the United States. Racial and
gender discrimination may also be attributed to the lack of political will.

It seems that United States is more divided now and it is backed by hard data.
According to Pew Research Center Polling, there are more than 4 out of 10 Democrats
and Republicans say that the other’s party’s policies are misguided ("America Really Is
