Research plan and alternative policies for legalization of Marijuana in New Jersey
Introduction
In January 2010 the New Jersey state legislature allowed the use of medical marijuana,
called the compassionate use of marijuana act (Ammerman et al e769-e785). New Jersey
government intended to include tax so that buying of marijuana is regulated. The regulation will
take marijuana industries and program which legalized recreational marijuana. The program of
recreational marijuana will legalize possession of marijuana to people above 21 years. Its
products are also allowed in form solid or liquid form. Legalization of marijuana in New Jersey
has been received with mixed reactions.
Background and Overview
Some lawmakers are supporting the idea of legalization while others are trying to weigh
out the new action plans. People are convinced that New Jersey should move on legalizing
marijuana if there is the existence of regulation for growers and distributors of marijuana. They
also argue that taxation will also help in the process of legalizing its use. The legalization
permitted registered physicians to treat patients that required attention. Under the Act, medical
marijuana must be ordered by qualified and registered physicians from any alternative treatment

centers that were approved by New Jersey (Nathan et al 1746-1747). Medical marijuana patients
are not allowed to grow their marijuana. Legalization of marijuana would imply that people who
are a prison because of marijuana crimes or crime related to marijuana will reduce. Some will be
set free following the legalization process.
