Description

For this Assignment, you will continue your practice as a critical consumer of research. You will critically evaluate a scholarly article related to multiple regression.

For this Assignment:

Write a 2- to 3-page critique of the article. In your critique, include responses to the following:

  • Why did the authors use multiple regression?
  • Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?
  • Did the authors display the data?
  • Do the results stand alone? Why or why not?

Use proper APA format, citations, and referencing.

Usages of multiple regression
Multiple regression analysis tests a predictive statement; it helps in a study that explains the
association between one continuous dependent variable and two or more independent
variables. Statistical questions, for instance, under multiple regression is framed as follows,
“do meat and dairy consumption explain the variance in bone density”. Bone density is the
dependent variable, whereas meat and dairy consumption is the independent variable. Ideally,
the independent variables can be either continuous or categorical. (Allison, 1999)
In the critique, I have cited same anomalies that required comments for the misuse of
the multiple regression in the study “Anxiety disorders in family caregivers of breast cancer
patients receiving oncologic treatment in Malaysia” Selamat, Ruzyanei, at el (1990), which
misused the multiples regression analysis.
Why the study used multiple regression
The study used multiple regression analysis to determine whether the level of anxiety
disorders among other related health condition factors influence the healing process of breast
cancer patients receiving oncologic treatment.
How was the multiple regression Misused
Based on the study methodology, it should not have used multiple regression because
at first place, the authors utilized incorrect random indexes, comprising the commonly used
equal-weight index, leads to biases in analysis and figures generated in the study. Based on
the research question the dependent variable and more than two the independent variables
were not clearly mentioned, hence raising the question of the way the author-genera...
