Comparison between two Native American writers: Charles Eastman and Sherman Alexie
Native American literature is also known as American Indian Literature. This literature
includes a set of oral histories, myths, folk tales, and documented happenings that were passed
from generation to generation through the works of contemporary and modern American Indian
writers (Pulitano, 2003). These writers used different approaches when depicting the Native
American culture and happenings in the American Indian settings. Charles Eastman and
Sherman Alexie were among the most famous Native American writers. Though the two are
well-recognized authors with strong cultural roots, they differ greatly in the themes,
characterization, and choice of voice in their various stories.
