Communication is a coordinated process where two or more people are engaged in the
process of sharing information, ideas, feelings and views concerning a topic of concern to them.
Key elements of interpersonal communication include: communicators, channel of
communication, message and the context in which the message is being relayed to the target
audience (Amber, 2005). Interpersonal communication has a significant impact in the process of
interacting with others in society. For example, it improves public image of an individual,
streamlines the manner in which personal confidence is enhanced and above all makes sure that
everything is done in a streamlined manner. Therefore, embracing advanced communication
skills do help in enhancing success while interacting with other people in society.
Forms of communication apprehension
According to Bevan and Sole, communication apprehension is that fear associated with
either real or some sort of anticipated communication with another person. This is a form of
psychological response to interpersonal communication which may turn to physical due to
threats posed by the other party to our mind. The body’s adrenaline system is one that responds
to communication apprehension at various environmental setups and other contexts of
communication process (Bevan & Sole, 2014).
