Question 1:
Social media platforms drive social commerce or e-commerce generally in different ways.
To start with, social media platforms offer unique advertising and product promotional
opportunities that create awareness about a products that are produced and supplied into the market
by different companies across the world. Dissemination of information regarding features and
characteristics of a product persuades potential customers to change their attitudes and perceptions
towards the product and in the process they end up finding the product so attractive to them. This
way, social media platforms drive e-commerce by advertising, promoting and creating awareness
of different products among the people on social media. It translates to increased sales volumes
and increased profits for businesses.
Another way in which social media platforms provide exceptional drive to the growth of
e-commerce is through its capability to reach a large base of potential clientele. Most of the social
media platforms such as Facebook have millions of active subscribers. It becomes more efficient
and effective when a social media platform like this is capable of reaching as many people as
possible simultaneously and disseminate the same kind of information to those people. This
ensures that the possibility of a company realizing increased sales and market share in the age of
information technology has greatly increased because a business need not reach out to potential

customers physically. It can just look at its products, the nature of the people it targets with its
products and ask itself which type of social media are the potential clients likely to be. For instance,
a business that undertakes its business in human resource employment and management would
easily find potential customers by using the LinkedIn social media platform as opposed to using
Facebook.
The third way in which social media platforms drive e-commerce is through provision of
tailor-made information depending on the searches that people carry out using browsers such as
Google Chrome and Mozilla. Businesses part with these online information search companies with
the aim of ensuring that people visiting the internet encounter information that is more relevant to
their previous online searches. For example, a person who frequently gets into the internet and
searchers information regarding the best holiday destinations, is likely to start encountering
information, pictures and images pertaining best holiday destinations next time they get into the
internet. The search engines, controlled by their operators, identify information that is frequently
searched online and in which region across the world so that they can undertake marketing and
promotional campaigns for those products in partnership with companies that provide the same
products and services.
Question 2:
It is true that in modern-day society, information find us. There is one instance in which inform
found me. It was just at the eve of my birthday when I logged into my Facebook account and the
first thing to see was about best places to take loved ones for a birthday celebration. It had relevant
information in making a birthday memorable and full of happiness. There images of nice looking
beaches and hotels just along the coastal beach. I looked at it and I was really fascinated and I
thought the world in which we are living in is becoming more and more intelligent in that it has

the capacity to know what different people are looking for and may be interested in. The social
media platform then proceed to provide information that is likely to suit one’s interests and
preferences.
In this case, the information, images and pictures regarding best places to take a loved one
to celebrate their birthday would have reached based on the information that I provided to
Facebook when I was joining. It is notable that most of the online social media platforms ask for
private information like date, month and year of birth. Social media platforms like Facebook are
likely to use this information in partnership with companies that provide different products and
services to undertake marketing and promotional campaigns that are in line with your interests and
preferences based on the information that you provided them. For instance, I think Facebook used
the information regarding by date, month and year of birth to provide information that is specific
to my...
