RUNNING HEADER: EVALUATING THE MONA LISA Evaluating The Mona Lisa Kyle Reynolds Rasmussen College Author’s Note: This paper is being submitted on October 21, 2017, for Professor Hearn’s Critical Thinking Course. RUNNING HEADER: EVALUATING THE MONA LISA Visual art is always quick to identify. The impact it has just shows itself and it is imminent with the eyes. It catches the eye so quickly. Mona Lisa is one of the great arts ever done by Leonardo da Vinci. The time it was drawn just brings about its fascination. The nature depicted in the art is presented quite well to the person looking at it as that should be the aim of visual art. To be conversant with what a novel aims at, one can read it for days or months so as films; it can take more than thirty minutes. Compared to art, unless it is acted or performed, its influence is instant. A person looking in Leonardo`s work can still find depth in it each time they look at it endless times. The seductiveness the art Mona Lisa has is a symbolism of great art. To bring about its beauty, one does not need to study it much. Its impact is quick and has effective rapid communication. Great art does not take a lot of time to appreciate. This is an art whose time gives an instant and complete image of what the artist is trying to depict (Strickland, Carol, & John Boswell, 22). If one looks at the art, the woman in the portrait has a silent communication and attraction is brought to greater extent with the much darker elements. In the art, one can tell that the woman in the art is alive. In that time, this was one of the first paintings that ever had the aerial perspective. The woman sits before an imaginary landscape. The art connects nature and humanity with faint smile in the woman. This is overall harmony depicted in the work. In conclusion, the time that the painting Mona Lisa has survived evidently marks it as one of the greatest artwork. It has more than 500 years since it was painted. This art is worth the experience when one tries to visit Italy where the Leonardo mind was as the art was drawn.
