Subject: Field Trip Report on Visit to Kauai's Black Sand Beach in Waimea, Hawaai
Dear Sir,
Kaua'i stands to be one the oldest Hawaiian Islands and hosts some of a gorgeous white sand
resorts and beaches. Nevertheless, there is a combination of spots on the entire island that
happens to be black sand beaches. The largest of all is the beach located at Waimea on the
island’s Western Side. Waimea beach is from near and far seen as a long stretch. At one of the
ends lies the source of Waimea River and at the far end goes out past the dock and then towards
Kekaha.
Also, it is quite some several years since I visited the beach and walked along the seashore,
though I got to admit that while it is not one of my desired spots, I found the trip to be more of
tranquility. There are several things that I observed along the beach, which I had not paid
attention to previously. To start with, there exists substantial stone erected at the entrance by use
of a metal plaque that informs the visitors that the entire site stands out to be of historical
importance for the reason that Captain Cook had made his landing there.
Another thing that I as well noted after stepping onto the beach is the shiny sand shimmers and
sparkles. These sand shimmers are dark brown and with fine gritty texture. The sea waves smash
right onto the shore while the beach slants upward. The beach is not very wide, but it’s
approximately fifty feet wide at the broadest point whole the beach slopes upward in the
direction of the backyards of the beautiful homes along the beach. Most of the enormous trees
that have grown along the beach have their roots bare while the sand eroded from the tides. The
oceanic color along the shores is a brownish blend probably from the sediments that frequently
wash down from the river and a composition of the dark sand along the coastline.
