CD 452 Methods and Materials Family Involvement Plan Introduction The intent of this assignment is to support intentional practices that support family involvement in early care and learning. Students are expected to think through different ways families can partner with a child care program to gain knowledge of their child’s development and to enhance the quality of services within the program. Students will outline, based on best practices and the Strengthening Families Protective Factors, ways programs can inform families, include families, and support families. Family Engagement Family engagement is the process in which early care and learning facilities engage families in the program through regular communication and resources. Develop the required amount of activities or strategies for each question listed below. For each strategy, identify the Strengthening Families Protective Factor that best aligns with that strategy. 1. Describe at least five ways that you can engage families daily. 2. Describe at least three ways you can engage families on weekly or monthly basis. 3. Describe at least three ways you can engage families on a quarterly or annual basis. 4. Describe what information parents should receive about their child’s development and how they should receive the information. 5. Describe what information parents should receive about their child’s behavior and how they should receive the information.
