Introduction
Knowledge management can be defined to mean the process of creating, using, managing
and sharing the information and the knowledge that an organization has. This may also refer to
the manner in which an organization may achieve its objectives by making sure that they use the
knowledge that the organization has (Maybury, Morey, & Thuraisingham, 2012). Many
organizations across the world have made sure to take knowledge management as a very
important strategy when trying to reach its objective and remain competitive in the business
world. Both profit and nonprofit organizations have made sure to set aside some funds to cater
for the knowledge management sector as it is as important as any other sector. Therefore,
knowledge management is the tool needed by an organization for it to be competitive and
effective in the business world. There are many important assets that an organization has and
besides the physical assets, for example, the money, people are also as important assets of an
organization. Knowledge management strategy development is a resource that an organization
uses to make sure it maximizes on all the knowledge that is available in an organization. This
knowledge can only be made possible through the people in the organizations and hence the
importance of the people in an organization. Knowledge management strategy development is
also what has made it possible for organizations to remain relevant in the today's rapidly
changing business environment.
