What is mass incarceration? How does it relate to race and social class?
Mass incarceration means a high number of prison confinements. The numbers of confinements
depend on the rate at which crime is being committed in a particular society. The social class
relates with incarceration to a great extent since one's social status determines how long they
may take locked up in prison. The individuals from a poor social background end up being
locked even if they are innocent simply because they are not capable of raising bails and end up
facing unfair trial (Alexander, 2013). On the other hand, the individuals from a high social
standing hardly ever stay long in a prison facility because of their ability to raise bail and afford a
lawyer.
Drugs like cocaine, marijuana, and heroin should not be legalized because they are highly
