The term Illness prevention is used to refer to a range of methods that are being used by
different institutions to promote good health and reduce the risks associated with ill health.
Some of these approaches include educating patients and self, maintaining a healthy lifestyle,
modifying behavior, medical accessibility and other involvements that avert the onset of the
disease (Holick, 2004). The amassed healthcare costs have initiated a major encounter for the
healthcare policy markets. The policymakers argue that the increased spending in the health care
is due to the aging population (baby boomers), higher treatment and drug costs and more chronic
illnesses. Numerous patients are incapable of accessing quality care because they lack the
resources to fund the high costs.
Individuals who support the prevention of illnesses claim that the prevention is capable of
improving the significance of the society because of its capability to advance the healthcare at
low costs. The prevention of illnesses is capable of reducing the national budget for the
