HYPOTHESIS AND CONCLUSION

Introduction

In carrying out research inquiry, a number of procedures are followed in order to
eventually come up with a valid conclusion. Among these procedures is the creation of a
hypothesis. By forming a hypothesis, a researcher incorporates the previous steps to narrow
down on facts that can be used in the remaining steps to come up with a conclusive statement.
Hypothesis plays a central role in research inquiry and when properly formed and ascertained,
the research yields positive outcome.
Scientific Methods of Research Inquiry
The scientific methods of research are a simple procedure that enables a researcher to get
only the best of results from indulging in an activity for the purposes of acquiring information on
the subject matter. They include five simple steps:
Questions
In scientific investigations, the first step involves the presentation of a question to be
tackled in the research. Questions aimed at research are formed on the basis of observation of the
inquisitive adverbs who, when, what, where and how (The five steps of the scientific method,
2014). These questions help the researcher to seek ways of solving the mystery at hand.
Questions guide the researcher to solve the problem by tackling one aspect of a case at a time.
Taking the example of a murder through poisoning, the researcher can ask themselves who could
have committed the crime, when the crime was committed, where it was committed, what was
used to commit the crime and finally how the crime was carried out.
