Introduction

David C. McClelland was an American social psychologist who is famously known
for his work in the field of motivation. He came up with the Human Motivation Theory. In
the theory, he looks at the traits that are dominant in individuals and what is the drive behind
their success. He also came up with better ways of measuring the psychological
characteristics besides the use of personality tests. It is possible to measure an individual’s
success when you understand their motivation and competence (George & Jones, 2012).
