Bullying is an increasing problem in our society today, social media has made it possible to have access to individuals with no respite. Since there is no escape from constant ridicule and body shaming, we are seeing an increase in many psychological issues. How has social media effected body image and bullying? Is this phenomenon the same in other countries? Compare the incidence of bullying and body image levels in at least two countries looking specifically at how social media has had an effect.

Bullying on social media (cyberbullying) has become a common form of bullying that
affects the lives of millions of teens across the world. The purpose of this paper is to analyze
cyberbullying in the United States and the United Kingdom in terms of prevalence,
characteristics, and potential interventions.
Definition
Cyberbullying can be defined as any form of bullying that occurs in the virtual space.
Bullying, on the other hand, is defined as any form of force, threat, coercion, or aggression to
intimidate or dominate others. An important characteristic of bullying is the existence of a
difference in the physical or another type of power, at least in the perception of the bully or the
others who witness it. Specific forms of bullying can include verbal and physical violence and
coercion. When bullying occurs in groups it is called mobbing. While traditional bullying is still
common, virtual bullying has become particularly common with the advent of social media
platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram (Singh, Gosh & Jose, 2017).
