Relationship between Selfies and Narcissism.
Selfies can be defined as a “photograph of oneself taken from a digital camera or a camera
phone while holding it in your hand at arm’s length or pointed at a mirror that is usually shared
through social media” (Seidman). Selfies have become a part of this millennial generation.
Whenever you go you will always find youths taking selfies. This has attracted a lot of interest
from different philosopher who seek to understand the nature of these people who have embraced
this technology. Different philosophers have claimed that this behavior is an act of narcissism.
Narcissism can be defined as “one believing to be better than others, attention seeking and
participating in egocentric behavior and thinking” (Seidman). In this paper we tend to explain why
this behavior cannot be considered as narcissism and why those people involved in it shouldn’t be
considered to be narcissist.
Although some people may argue that there is positive correlation between the two, there
are many other factors that they fail to consider. Firstly there is a deeper meaning to narcissism
