Global warming
Global warming can be described as an unusual rapid increase in the Earth's average
surface temperature over a period. Global warming has rapidly increased due to the greenhouse
gases released as people burn the fossil fuels. The recent analysis of the global warming shows
that the average surface temperature rose from 0.6 to 0.9 degrees Celsius (1.1 to 1.6*). This s
between the year 1906 and 2005, a double increase in temperatures has been experienced over
the 50 years (Abrahamson, D. E, 2005).
Major causes of global warming
Greenhouse effect.
The greenhouse effect is the process whereby the earth atmosphere contains a number of
the warmth that comes from the sun. This heat also causes the generation of major gases such as
water vapor, methane and the carbon dioxide, their accumulation on the earth atmosphere cause
prevents the heat on the earth surface to space, which can lead to an increased greenhouse effect,

therefore, leading to global warming and climate change. The greenhouse effect is caused by
burning fuels, cutting down of trees, high concentration of warmth on the earth surface which
increases to certain levels creating an atmospheric phenomenon (Crowley, T. J, (2000).
This phenomenon is initiated by a lot of concentration of the greenhouse gases, and once
their concentrations hit high level, they start disturbing the climate, creating the planet more
additional heat. These gases generated do not have anywhere to escape to rather accumulate on
the earth space therefor increasing the temperatures, which cause the imbalance in gases and
becomes a reason for world warming.
