Description
Objectives: Genetics and Inheritance
Review information on genetic disorders on the National Human Genome Research Institute Site: http://www.genome.gov/.
Choose a genetic disorder that can be inherited from a parent. Write a 525- to 700-word paper on the genetic disorder. Include the following in your paper:
Summarize the Chromosomal Theory of Inheritance and how chromosomal abnormalities can lead to genetic disorders.
- Describe the relationship between chromosomes and DNA.
- Identify an example of a genetic disorder and describe the genetic disorder including symptoms, impact on quality of life, and life expectancy. How common is this disorder? Does it run in specific ethnic bloodlines?
Format your paper according to APA guidelines. Review the Academic Writing Guidelines video and the Center for Writing Excellence for additional guidance on academic writing and APA style.

Chromosomal Theory of Inheritance
It is a basic uniting theory of genetics which recognizes chromosomes as the carriers of genetic
material. It accurately clarifies the mechanism latent the laws of Mendelian inheritance by
recognizing chromosomes with paired factors needed by Mendel’s laws. It also asserts that
chromosomes are continuous structures with genes based at particular sites known as loci along
them. It affirms clearly that chromosomes, which are seen in all dividing cells and move from
one generation to the other, are the ground for all genetic inheritance. By a duration random
alteration develops changes in DNA array of gene. (Wikipedia, Boveri–Sutton chromosome
theory, (2017).
How chromosomal abnormalities can lead to genetic disorders.
When a chromosome is aberrant, it may bring about health issues. The abnormal chromosomes
regularly occur due to an error in cell division. The abnormalities occur as a result of one or
more of the following:
Errors amid division of sex cells (meiosis)
This is the beginning of hoe babies grow. Usually, it causes each parents to provide 23
chromosomes to a pregnancy. Hence, when a sperm enriches an egg, the joining brings about a
baby with 46 chromosomes. However, if meiosis does not occur ordinarily then the baby may
have an added chromosome known as trisomy or a missing chromosome known as monosomy.
These issues can bring about pregnanc...
