The tragedy in Hamlet was depicted through the last scene, as this catastrophic ending occurred because of Hamlets flaw of indecisiveness. This massacre of Hamlet, Claudius, Gertrude and Laertes could have been prevented if Hamlet took revenge on Claudius earlier, perhaps when he was in confession with Claudius. If Hamlet did kill his uncle earlier in the play, he could have prevented his mother’s death as well as his own death. Ophelia would not have been driven into madness if Hamlet acted earlier as well therefore she would still be alive. Also, Hamlet could have become King if he avenged his father’s death earlier by killing his uncle but his tragic flaw of indecisiveness, prevented him from taking action earlier which led to his own demise. Hamlet’s procrastination finally stopped when he saw that Claudius kill Gertrude, and then he finally decided to take action and kill this uncle. Hamlet’s tragic flaw of procrastination made this play a tragedy because in the end, everyone died and he could have prevented this from happening if he took action earlier, therefore Hamlets tragic flaw made this play a tragedy and led to the demise of everyone at the end of the play.
