Use of discretion
I am an officer on duty and I see some kids past curfew, so I would first make sure what day of the week it is since the weekend and weekday time varies for curfew. I would ask them what they were doing out so late and where do the live. It is the police officer’s responsibility to make sure these kids are safe and are not in danger in any way. Another question would be where being the coming from or did they sneak out without their parents’ permission. These kids might even be homeless for all I know but if they are not then I would personally drive each of them home and tell their parents that they aren’t allowed to be out passed a certain time.
Something that might affect future of the youth because if they are able to be out at whatever time at night then they might start pushing to see what else they can get away with. If there is no structure for them then it becomes more normal to be out and do whatever the kid pleases.

If I was a police officer, and passed by a neighborhood park, and noticed a group of what appear to be fourteen and fifteen year olds past their curfew I would just keep them in check for few minutes before checking up on them. Check if there are adults around, and if they are related to them; check if they are smoking, doing drugs or drinking. After those facts I would approached them and asked them what are they doing? where are their parents? and where they are heading to? After checking on their answers if they don't have their parents I would have to take them in custody, and call their parents. Either it will be beneficial for the teens for them not to do it again and give them a lesson or they will figure a way out to be more sneaky.

Discussion Board Topic: What came first, school failure or delinquency?
Do you think there is a link between school failure and delinquency? Is school failure responsible for delinquency or are delinquents, school failures? Reflect on your own experiences. Support your argument with examples. It is not important whether you agree or disagree with your teams’ stance, but rather that you are able to support your side of the argument with evidence and examples.
If your last name begins with A-L, you will argue that school failure is responsible for delinquency.
If your last name begins with M-Z, you will argue that delinquents are school failures (because of their delinquency).
Explanation & Answer
