Professional Group or Community Organization Outline
Instructions
Read through the three choice categories below carefully. Based on your research and your desire to learn more about or participate in a particular event, choose one as your final project. Once your choice has been made, create an outline of your project to summarize the information below to notify your instructor of your choice. This assignment should be 1-2 pages and submitted as a Word or PDF document and only answer questions 1-5 below (using the option you pick for your final submission in Module 8). You will complete the answers to the questions in the Options during Module 8. Please create a separate section for each item you are asked to provide.
Identify which option (1, 2, or 3) you have chosen.
Give the specific event, conference, company, or project details. For example, I have chosen to interview Paul Williss, Global Director from Eli Lilly or I will attend the INBVM Global Conference on 3/27/yyyy or I will travel to Costa Rica from 2/25/yyyy - 3/5/yyyy for a service learning project.
Detail how your choice is related to global studies.
What (pertaining to global studies) do you plan to get out of the experience?
Please include any other details about your project that should be evaluated by your instructor prior to submitting the final project.
Final Project Options
Based on your research you conducted in Module 2, choose one item as your final project. Please note that you doNOT need to pay for anything (conferences, study abroad, etc.) in order to complete this assignment. There are plenty of things out there that you can do for this project that are free and local. Please do not let the illusion of cost keep you from completing this assignment. There are three different options with instructions below. Be certain to read the proper instructions and avoid getting them mixed up. For each of the options below, it would be a good idea to bring a copy of the questions with you to make sure they all get answered.
OPTION #1: International project, study abroad, conferences, service learning, etc (items #1 and #2 of research assignment):
Attend any one of the many choices you researched under these two categories. Provide the date and time of your attendance, give the name of the event, entity responsible for hosting the event, length of event, and location. Provide a description of the event, purpose, and expected outcomes. Describe the target audience for this event. Answer the following questions below in a 3-5 page APA academic paper complete with a cover page and references on separate sheets.
Describe your experience - what happened (be detailed 2-3 paragraphs)? Was this normal for you?
What was the topic of discussion?
Did you feel uncomfortable? Explain.
What did you enjoy? What did you not enjoy?
What new things did you learn? Will you incorporate this new knowledge into your own life?
Did you discuss or were exposed to any global issues during this experience? Explain.
What other cultures were you exposed to as a result of this experience?
How do you feel this experience will help you become a global citizen?
Did this experience change what you thought about international business?
What more would you like to learn about this particular experience or international business in general?
Did you make any connections (networking) as a result of this experience?
Based on this experience, could you work for a global company as an expatriate? Why or why not?
What are your final thoughts about your experience and what advice would you give to someone thinking of working in international business?
OPTION #2: Professional group or community organization (item #3 of research assignment):
Of the three professional groups and/or community organizations, choose one to join. Keep in mind that this group must have an international focus. If there is a cost associated with membership, find out if you can attended meetings as a student to satisfy an assignment at some point in your college career. This approach commonly works, but if not you are unwilling and/or unable to pay for membership, choose another option. Attend at least three meetings and/or events and answer the questions below in a 3-5 page APA academic paper complete with a cover page and references on separate sheets.
Describe your experience - what happened (be detailed 2-3 paragraphs)? Was this normal for you?
What was the topic of discussion?
Did you feel uncomfortable? Explain.
What did you enjoy? What did you not enjoy?

What more would you like to learn about this particular experience or international business in general?
Did you make any connections (networking) as a result of this experience?
Based on this experience, could you work for a global company as an expatriate? Why or why not?
What are your final thoughts about your experience and what advice would you give to someone thinking of working in international business?
OPTION #3: International company research (item #4 of research assignment):
Of the three international companies you researched, choose one to research further. Connect with someone within the company who closely works with the international sector of the business. The higher up you go the better (manager, executive director, VP, etc.) as you will be able to get a broader understanding of the role. Conduct an interview of this individual (can serve in any role as long as it is an international role) using the questions below and then summarize the interview in a 3-5 page APA formatted paper.
For this option, you can use resources such as Linked-In, your own network of people in the workforce (parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters) or Google to get contact information for the individual you are targeting. Be sure you are courteous, professional, and respectful of their time. It is important to "do your homework" on the interviewee and company to make sure you know their background. Linked-In is a great resource to learn about a person's career. This option will be a rewarding experience to have an opportunity to interact with a professional and build your network. You may want to have a secondary option in case you are unable to schedule a suitable candidate for your interview.
Interview Questions: (you can certainly add to this list as time permits, but these questions MUST be asked for the interview)
Name of interviewee, title, years with company, years in current position, how got to position (education, work experience, etc.)
Please give me a brief description of your job. (What exactly do you do for this company?)
How many different countries are you responsible for dealing with on a regular basis?
Describe some global issues that you face in this position.
Would you say that conducting business on a global level is difficult, easy, or a combination?
How many different global markets are you responsible for?
How do you differentiate between all of your global markets in terms of marketing strategies?
Do you travel internationally for this position? If so how often? Describe your first international experience with this company.
What is your favorite thing about your current position? Least favorite?
What advice would you give to someone looking to hold a position like yours for a similar company?
Summarize this interview (essay style) into a 3-5 page APA style format paper complete with separate cover page and references and include the answers to the following questions below in your paper.
Based on your interview, what is your view of the company you chose? Explain.
What new information did you learn about working for an international company?
What new information did you learn about conducting international business?
What was the most interesting thing you learned from your interviewee?
Based on this interview, would you want to pursue a career in international business or perhaps even start your own international company?
How do you feel this experience will help you become a global citizen?
Did this experience change what you thought about international business?
What more would you like to learn about this particular experience or international business in general?
Based on this experience, could you work for a global company as an expatriate? Why or why not?
What are your final thoughts about your experience and what advice would you give to someone thinking of working in international business?
It is imperative to get started on this now so that you have plenty of time to complete the objectives and write your paper. Please note that your cover and reference pages do not count towards your page count.

WC Mc Donalds Limited Menu & Response Discussion
Read OM in the News:McDonald’s Improves Operations with a Smaller Menu from Jay, Barry & Chuck's OM Blog - A Blog for Operations Management Educators. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the more limited menus currently seen at McDonald's? If you were a McDonald's executive, would you stick with the current menu after the COVID-19 pandemic ends, or would you recommend changes? Support your position. After posting your inital response to the questions, respond to at least two others' posts in the discussion. before participating in discussions so you know the criteria I'm looking for when you post look at the attachement. Please after you write the discussion post I want you to reply on two of my peer's posts:Mackenzie 1- There are many advanatges of McDonald's limiting their menu during the pandemic. Drive-thru times are being reported as shorter which I feel is huge for a fast food restaurant as I know I personally like when the line at a drive-thru goes quick. Another advantage is that people are saying the food tastes better and that there are less errors in fulfilling their orders. This makes sense as there are not as many food options anymore so there is not as much to work with or opportunity to mess up. Some disadvantages n my opinion are that some of the nicer and unexpected food options are the ones that were taken away. Salads, bagels, and yogurt parfaits are not typical items you would think about McDonald's serving, so if someone saw them on the menu they may be more tempted to try it. Another disadvantage is that these are some of the healthier options. I think if I were a McDonald's executive, I would stick with the current menu after the COVID-19 pandemic ends. I say this because what they are doing now seems to be working just fine, and people are happy. I think if someone wanted specifically a bagel or salad, McDonald's would not be their first choice of place to eat anyway, so I feel as though McDonald's should keep doing what they are doing. Megan 2- Something I've personally found as a huge disadvantage of the change in McDonald's menu is no longer serving all day breakfast. I'm not a huge morning person, so I really liked it when McDonald's added all day breakfast. By changing to a limited menu, McDonald's might push away previous customers by taking off some of their favorite menu items. However, by reducing menu items to those that are most popular, customers can get through the drive through faster and have also reported that their orders have been more accurate. If I was a McDonald's executive, I would stick to a limited menu like the current one, even if it does not have all day breakfast, due to the increased customer satisfaction in regards to wait times and food quality. I think that by limiting their menu items and reducing operations, it helps McDonald's to focus more on customer satisfaction with food quality and customer service, something that McDonald's has been known to lack. I think another food chain that portrays a good example of this is Raising Canes. Raising Canes has limited menu items resulting in high order accuracy and low wait times for their customers. I think it is necessary for McDonald's to keep the limited menu in order to simplify operations and improve areas that they are not as strong in.

Advanced Time Value of MoneyAn advertised monthly lending rate of 9% is about 11% per year. This difference between an advertised rate and the annualized rate is based on finer TVM details that may be overlooked by borrowers. Discuss how you may have used TVM in a recent investment or loan decision and explain the TVM involved in your transaction. If you have not used TVM in the past financial transactions what practical TVM application would you expect to encounter in your future.
