Diabetes is one of the chronic illnesses which arises when the glucose in the blood or rather
blood sugar level gets too high. Energy in the body is produced as a result of breaking down of
glucose to produce energy. With the help of insulin, a pancreatic hormone, glucose enters the
cells and is used for energy (American Diabetes Association, 2005). Diabetes could result into
very serious health complications if it is not diagnosed and treated on time.
Discussion
Basically, I have learned that diabetes is occurs when little or no insulin is manufactured in
the body hence leading to accumulation of glucose. Diabetes is not curable, however, there are
steps that can be taken to manage the disease. There are two types of diabetes namely, diabetes
