Description

After reflecting on this week's readings and viewings about the birth, growth, and development of hip-hop in Seattle, consider the following in 2-4 pages:

  • Compare and contrast the examples of Seattle hip-hop from different eras: How are they similar? How are they different?
  • What are the messages about Seattle culture that emerge when you read these songs critically?
  • How is Seattle hip-hop different from music we have listened to from other regions of the United States?
  • Based on these examples, what can you tell has changed in Seattle over 30 years? What has remained the same?

Inclusion of quotes and/or references from this week's course materials are required to earn full credit on this assignment.
