Description
You have been advised by the warden that the agency is going to seek national accreditation by the ACA and that he has designated you as the accreditation manager. One of the areas that will be looked at is internal policies dealing with officer misconduct. There have been several incidents in the past in which officers have either been disciplined or fired for conduct that violated the rules and regulations of the agency.
He has tasked you with the responsibility of coming up with a comprehensive training plan that would address ethical and moral issues officers face in the performance of their duties. He also wants you to explore the possibility of instituting a civilian review board to investigate inmate complaints against officers. He assigns several other members of the agency to assist you.

There have been many cases of misconduct among some police officers from past years
and this is based on their failure to understand the code of ethics and morality in their line of
duty. Most correctional agencies understand the need for a well programmed strategy to curb
down these misconducts and improve police officers habit. The correctional agencies have been
perceived to deal with such cases on strict conditions based on their view of the acts as lack of
respect to what they signed to practice as officers. Most of these officers have sometimes ended
in jails to serve long sentences or being expelled from work for a short or long period. The
agencies sometimes take a harsh punishment of suspending the officer's services or taking away
their promotions in case they had been promoted earlier. Following the rise of such cases it is
important to develop a training plan that could aid in shaping the officers behavior and judgment
of various matters relating to their line of duty.
The plan will entail making coverage of every ethical decision that officers make under
various circumstances in their line of duty. Apart from this aspect, the primary aim of the training
will be to enlighten the officer's awareness on various ethical issues that may occur in their
careers and take a vow to take responsibility of such matters and be equipped with knowledge on
how to handle them.
