The primary cause of adverse events in healthcare is communication failures between
nurses and physicians (Agha, 2014). Communication and information technology are critical in
facilitating efficient healthcare service to the patients. Efficient as well as a timely exchange of
information among professionals of healthcare and patients is essential to enhancing diagnosis.
Health Information Technology reduces communication breakdown as well as a breakdown in
interpersonal communication and information exchange among the professionals such as
reporting of test results (Agha, 2014). Some of the technological tools used include electronic
health records (EHRs), patients engagement tools, clinical decision support, laboratory and also
medical imaging information frameworks, and health information devices. This health
