Introduction
Human sexuality can be defined as the way in which people express themselves as
sexual beings. It is the way in which people experience and convey themselves and which has
been in existence since the beginning of time and has been argued by anthropologists and
psychologists who have effectively expressed their expertise on the issue. There has been a
varied number of attitudes regarding sex and sexual behavior with different people voicing
their varied beliefs with regards to the role of men and women with regards to sexuality. This
paper explores the historical and contemporary perspectives of human sexuality. While the
paper recognizes the many viewpoints on human sexuality, only two historical and one
contemporary cultural will be discussed. Additionally, the cultural attitudes towards male and
female sexuality of the historical and contemporary perception will be explored. Effectively,
the paper will enlighten on the different roles that men and women are perceived to perform
and their inherent difference. Additionally, the issue of openness to many things forbidden by
historical viewpoints will come to light through the exploration of the contemporary
perspective.
