Description

Please follow below instructions very carefully;

(I attached some photo to help you describe how they dressed in the play and write how do you feel about it plz. first picture shows how they dressed and the rest directors names...ect)

In the paper you need to cover ALL the following areas: acting, directing, design (set,

light, costume, sound, hair and makeup). With all of these areas, talk about what you found was

effective and ineffective. Who stood out to you and why? What was effective or ineffective

about them? What about the show was a whole? What was the message of the show? What

themes did you find in the show? THIS IS NOT A PLOT SUMMARY. I do not need or want

you to just talk about the plot or give me a play-by-play of the show. I saw the show as well.

You can touch on the plot, but I am much more interested in your opinion of the show (and all its

various aspects). Also, you cannot just refer to someone by their character name or their

title (director, designer, etc.). You are expected to give credit to the actor, director or

designer by using their name, which must be spelled correctly (or at least how it was

spelled in the program). You will LOSE POINTS if you do not do so. You will also lose

points if you do not talk about the acting, the design AND the direction!!

PLEASE BE AWARE – The designers are listed at the TOP of the program, and

will say something like “Light Designer … Matt Schleicher”, etc. Do NOT list the Design

Advisor or Crew Members. These people did NOT design the show, and you will have

points deducted from your paper for incorrectly listing this information.

In your paper, don’t forget YOUR reaction and to the performance itself. THIS IS

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! How do you react to this play? How does the message

of the play affect you individually? Discuss directorial choices, design choices, acting choices

… anything that you had a reaction to. Be as specific as you can be, and use specific examples

from the performance to illustrate your point. You don’t have to love the play or even like it, but

you need to be able to support your arguments. So just saying “I loved this play” or “I hated it”

or “it was all right” won’t cut it – tell me WHY you are having the reactions you are having.

Each paper will be 700-1200 words long, MAXIMUM of 1200 words. This paper is not

a just plot summary or a book report. Plot is very important, but it is only one of the many

areas you need to discuss. I want to hear YOUR reactions to this performance.

If you do not give credit to the designers by name, you will automatically have TEN

POINTS deducted from your grade. Mentioning only some of the designers but not all when

then incur a partial deduction. If you do not give credit to the director by name, you will

automatically have EIGHT POINTS deducted from your grade. If you do not give credit to the

actors by name, you will automatically have FIFTEEN POINTS deducted from your grade.

NOTE: This does NOT MEAN that you have to talk about EVERY SINGLE ACTOR in the show. Some of the shows have 30 actors – you do not need to talk about them all.

‘Cry Baby' MUSICAL
Cry-Baby is a play based on John Waters film which bears the same name. The music
and lyrics of the film are by Adam Schlesinger and David Javerbaum respectively. The book
related to the film is by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. In courtesy of music, Mark
O'Donnell and Thomas Maheem further adapted John Water's Hairspray for their musical
stage. Furthermore, the music focuses on Baltimore. Vernon-William, a teenager who
features across the track. Vernon- William's life appears across the track, that is from her high
school finishing to her relationship with a ‘Cry-Baby,' the rebel leader of outcasts. An artist
produces and publishes a book, act, or film which is entitled to responses., Cry-Baby is not
exemptional from the cycle. I feel this play is tasteless and as a replica of the play by John
Waters, it is disappointing, there is no perfect way of putting this musical play to Water's
movie. Consequently, this Cry- Baby version was just a wrong replica of Water's movie.
Water has been on the move of making America realize some hidden features for a long time.
As a writer of Polyester and Pink Flamingos reflects the forbidden appetite and severe
offense America perform, and for his caliber, a tasteless version of his work would be in
order.
In my opinion, the play should not offend anyone for it includes a singer man with an
iron like lung and a love ballad kissing with tongues and a blithe show of individuals losing
lives in electric chairs despite the mild-manner part of it. However, when I say it is tasteless I
mean that it lacks some flavor and sweetness, this show is more possesses the characteristics
of a pre-chewed, one-week-old gum, tasteless.
The idea of film-director-based franchises looks dubious in a Broadway musical.

musical hit, the film arrives like a weaker child exposed to the sun for the first time, besides,
it looks like an excellent girl-bad boy romance or the 1950s, it has a critical disgusting
chorus. As if that is not enough, a shaky pressure during the performance arises exposing a
clumsy and shrill descendant of an idiotic which is blissful.
For the record of the film in which John Waters serves as a model and a creative
figure, the film applies greasy. Even though the show doesn't seem to lack a striking style of
its own as portrayed in the book written by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Maheem., Thomas
Maheem was responsible for the Broadway Hairspray musical nature. The method is also
inevitable as characterized by David Javerbaum and Adam Schlesinger in their music and
lyrics.
Admittedly, the movie features Johnny Depp, on the stardom, which poses problems
for the adapters. The film plot uses early homage of Elvis Presley, the rock and roll flick, for
this tale in Baltimore. The main character, Mr. Depp's outcast riding of motorcycles and the
restless virgins form the right side of the track and as well points the direction of the film, this
plot is retold many times in the continuously played Top 40 love songs.
According to Waters standards, the film seems restrained; it looks more of a striving
restrain from a mainstream formed by the Hairspray setting. Besides, the play allows its
camera to roll, make love to epicene, sexiness and insolent to Mr. Depp face for camera look,
the same look applies to Joe Dallesan...
