The Human resources management department is a vital component of the organization
of any hospital. By ensuring that providers and staff of a hospital are well sourced, and
maintained, the human resource management department helps ensure that the overall patient
health trends are improved in the course of delivering health services (Kabene et al.). Some of
the employees of a hospital setting include doctors, nurses, and other supporting staff. Human
resources constitute one of the three major principles of a successful healthcare facility with the
other two being capital and consumables. To ensure that a hospital has happy and productive
staff, a number of strategies can be applied. This paper will explore some of the strategies I
would apply as a human resource manager of a hospital in order to attract and retain providers
and staff (Kabene et al.).
Primarily, I would be keen to inform the top management that with the current
development of an organizational process, power has actually shifted from employers to the
employees. In other words, to ensure that healthcare providers and other staff within a hospital
setting deliver optimally, it would be vital to prioritize what potential candidates would want
from the hospital as opposed to strictly profiling the role of the institution. By doing so, not only
will the best talent be attracted to the hospital, but also be motivated to work better (Kavita and
