Description
Euthyphro – Plato
In the Euthyphro,
Socrates and Euthyphro discuss the concept of piety/holiness. This
essay will not only test your ability to recognize and engage
philosophical concepts and analysis, but also brings you into the
dialogue as a participant, asking you to create your own definition of
holiness.
Read the Euthyphro, and write a paper in which you do the following:
- Explain how the concept of holiness emerges in the dialogue and why it takes a prominent position in the conversation between Socrates and Euthyphro.
- Present the three definitions that Euthyphro uses in his response to Socrates, and then present Socrates’s refutation of each of Euthyphro’s definitions.
- Develop your own argument as to what you think Socrates’s goal is in this dialogue. How do you know that is his goal? What features of the dialogue align with your interpretation of his goal?
- Provide your own definition of piety/holiness and then create a Socratic response/critique of your definition. After you present your definition, take on the role of Socrates and respond to your own definition as you think he would.

understanding the differences in values
TEXTBOOK INFORMATION Title: Becoming a Helper Edition: 7th (2015) Author: Marianne Schneider Corey and Gerald Corey Publisher: Cengage Learning Book ISBN: 978-1-305-08509-1Your original response to the Discussion topic should be at least 350 words and should reflect the fact that you have completed the Reading and activities. Use your words wisely so that the posting has substance and includes examples and explanations. Best practice is to include citations and a reference list.Understanding the differences in one’s values is very important. Having an open mind regarding value differences can allow you to see things from a client’s perspective and provide better support for your clients. Your ability to demonstrate confidentiality and understand boundaries builds client trustIn Chapters 4 and 5 of your textbook you read about the importance of the human service professional understanding the differences in one’s cultural values, and how these values influence the helping process. Acknowledging the difference in cultural values can allow you to see things from another perspective. As human service professionals, you must be aware of your own boundaries as well as client boundaries in order to allow for a healthy client relationship. As you read about cultural assumptions, think about and acknowledge what shapes your belief system and understanding, as this may influence the helping process. How important is self-disclosure and confidentiality? Can these benefit the helping process?
How might a human service professional demonstrate how transference and countertransference may occur in the helping process? Please identify and explain effective ways of dealing with transference and countertransference issues.
Based on your own personal experiences/issues, how might countertransference towards a client interfere in the helping process?
Human service professionals should maintain adequate safeguards when working with the client; communicating through verbal and nonverbal methods can reveal true thoughts and feelings. Describe how the client’s nonverbal communication may affect the helping process? How might human service professional self-disclosure affect the helping process?
What skills might you as a human service professional need in setting appropriate boundaries while working with a client? Why is this important?
Please remember to cite your work using APA format when referencing from the text or outside resources.

Rasmussen College Parent Conference Essay
Working with children requires many skills, one of which is communicating with various groups to provide quality educational experiences. A good place to start is developing a strong professional code of ethics when you are speaking with parents. Ethics will guide a professional's actions. When we speak with parents regarding a possible delay or special need, we must be sensitive, honest, and ethical in our communication. How can you facilitate positive, ethical communication with parents when speaking to them about a child that is possibly gifted or delayed? You will need to refer back to the NAEYC Ethical Code of Conduct in Module 02.Read each of the scenarios below and decide which one you would like to use as the bases of your parent conference.Scenario 1: You are the teacher in an infant classroom. You notice that Sally, who is 7.5 months old, is not trying to reach for objects or does not roll over from back to front.Scenario 2: You are the teacher in the two year old classroom. You notice that John, who turned 30 months last week, only walks on his toes. He never puts his entire foot down when he is walking. This occurs with and without shoes on.Scenario 3: You are the Pre-K teacher at a new school. You notice that Christa, who is almost 5 years of age, is still in the scribbling stage of writing/drawing. Christa does not try to draw people, animals, or objects. She holds her crayon in her fist and makes light marks all over the paper. In a 2-3 page paper, complete the following:The essay should include an introduction paragraph and a conclusion paragraph. The introduction paragraph should give a brief overview of the paper and include the age of the child. The conclusion paragraph should tie all of the ideas together. Remember that proper paragraphs should be at least five sentences long and with expanded thoughts and ideas.Write at least one paragraph in which you explain what you will be discussing with the parents. It is important that you research the issue so you can answer questions for the parents. This research could come from the text book, the articles in the class, or an online journal article. Do not use Wikipedia, newspaper articles, or magazines for resources as they are not based on research.Write at least one paragraph explaining what you would suggest to the parents. It is important to remember that you are not a diagnostician and can only make suggestions. It is not legal or ethical for teachers to diagnose a child. Only explain what we have witnessed.Write at least one paragraph explaining why ethical communication is important in this situation. Relate back to the NAEYC Ethical Code of Conduct
