The United States has had a superpower position following the Second World War
whereby it was involved in bombing the Hiroshima and Nagasaki cities in Japan thereby ending
the war (Brannea & Youssef, 2015). It then was involved in fighting communism which was
being undertaken by the Soviet Union in other countries. This, therefore, generated the cold war
which was between the Soviet Union and the U.S. The United Nations was created so as to
prevent another world war, and due to the economic and military capability of the United States,
it got involved in maintaining peace among countries through its central intelligence agency. The
role of the US as a protector is usually facilitated by the might of the country both in the
economic and the military sectors possessed by the United States, boosting the ability of the
America in protecting, supporting or intervening for the member countries as well as other
countries expressing the necessity for help.
Two International events involving the US military
There has been the involvement of the military of the United States in Libya in the year
2011. This started from the months of March to October with the intention of ending the civil
war. These forces were initially carrying out their operations through a coalition but later started
