Engineering Elecromagnetic
Question Description
. Show that the function, expressed in spherical co-ordinates, is a solution to the scalar homogeneous Helmholtz equation for r ≠ 0. This function represents a spherical wave and is just as useful in representing electromagnetic fields as the plane wave. Recall that we showed that a specially chosen plane wave representation of the electric and magnetic fields satisfy Maxwell’s equations. b). Specify a representation of the time harmonic magnetic vector potential, A, using the above function that generates electric and magnetic fields in a source free region that satisfies Maxwell’s equations in the far field, using the following relations, B=∇×A and E=−jωA.
