Introduction
Food safety is a continuing huge concern, with major recalls on foodborne disease outbreak
occurring with alarming regularity in the modern society. Food safety is affected by various
interactions and practices involved in food processing. Over the past years, people have used
certain microbes in the production of a variety of foods including raised bread, hard cheeses,
alcoholic beverages and pickled foods. Contamination occurs because of foreign entry of both
harmful and non-harmful substances in the food (Schiff, 2015). The most prevalent dominants
include insect parts, metal fragments, and pathogens.
