PART ONE SECTION B ONLY

PART TWO

This assignment is intended to provide an opportunity for students to:

(i) Apply theoretical knowledge to design and understand the important elements of

telecommunication systems;

(ii) Become familiar with simulation techniques and in particular with the use of the

simulation package ‘MATLAB’;

(iii) Design and evaluate a digital communications system in simulation;

(iv) Produce a precise, concise, and clear written solutions/report for marking

purposes.

Introduction

The coursework is divided into two parts. You are required to attempt ONE Section from

Part 1 and the whole of the Part 2 (please see more details regarding this part under Part 2

heading).

The coursework assignment will be carried out in groups (4 students in a group). Part 2 is

COMPULSORY for ALL groups and you must declare your group members’ names and which

section are you attempting from Part 1. (Selection of sections from Part 1 will be on first

come first serve bases – any section selected by one group will not be allowed to any
