Issue: New Jersey Marks Tenth Anniversary of Abolition of Capital Punishment.
New Jersey put an end to a death sentence on 17th December 2017 as stated in New
Jersey Law Journal. This issue of the death sentence in New Jersey remains the correct and
rational thing that is supposed to be done according to people of New Jersey. According to
the history of capital punishment in New Jersey, since 1982, there have been no criminals
being executed until in January 2nd, 2007 when New Jersey Death Penalty Study Commission
suggested the abolishment of the death sentence. This commission also found out that the
expenses of commanding death sentence in New Jersey were larger than costs of spending
years in prison with no parole. Also, there was no convincing proof to show that New Jersey
death punishment provided a justifiable penological purpose.
After Governor Jon Corzine recognized legislation putting an end to the death
penalty, there was a fall in the number of murder cases that were in New Jersey. The issue of
