Assume you are an employee working in the Amazon warehouse, and you pack orders and categorize them into small, medium, and large batches. You are considered a packer. You have experience packing all sizes and have been with the organization for two years. You are considered one of their best employees, you have a solid reputation for being a hard worker, and all of your orders are packed correctly. You have also been busy; you recently completed Amazon’s management training program, and you have completed your BABA degree at the Forbes School of Business and Technology at Ashford University.

Congratulations: You have just been promoted to manager. You will be relocated to a new plant that is two hours away that employs 100 employees. You will oversee a team of 10 supervisors and 90 packers and will now oversee the entire warehouse operation. How will you work to use and apply the five functions of management?

  • Controls: Identify what controls and measures you will implement.

As a manager in the new plant of the Amazon warehouse, the five management functions
must be applied which entail planning, organizing, staffing, leading as well as controlling. These
functions are going to b discussed separately in this paper.
Planning
Planning is a function of management that concerns itself with the laying of firm's goal
for the firm's future as well as defining its missions and visions. Also, it is a process whereby the
resources that are needed to achieve the planned goals are established.
Having a team that is effective in a firm leads to excellent performance which has an
increasing trend. The first step is establishing leadership whereby as a manager if I deliver
effective judgment in carrying out the operations, the employees will tend to perform the duties
even when am not around effectively. It will be achieved via attempting to foster transparency,
honesty, and trust. The second step will involve building relationships with each worker.
Knowing the employees based on their skills, likes, what motivates them as well as dislikes
which will enable the matching the employee's competencies as well as expertise.
The third step will involve establishing of work relationships between the employees. As
the employees start working as a team, the manager should commence on examining how their
work and improving the communication lines. The fourth steps involve fostering teamwork
whereby the employs are encouraged to have to share information as well as engaging them in
some decision making. The last step of building an effecting team is setting ground rules for the
team via the creation of team values and performing team performance evaluation.
To establish a productive culture in the new plan of the Amazon warehouse, I should
enhance listening as an employee to employer feedback is very crucial. Engagement is also
