Assignment 2: One-Way ANOVA in Practice

For this Assignment, you will continue your practice as a critical consumer of research. You will critically evaluate a scholarly article related to one-way ANOVA testing.

To prepare for this Assignment:

  • Use the Course Guide and Assignment Help found in this week’s Learning Resources and search for a quantitative article related to one-way ANOVA testing.

For this Assignment:

Write a 2- to 3-page critique of the article you found. In your critique, include responses to the following:

  • Why did the authors use this one-way ANOVA test?
  • Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?
  • Did the authors display the data?
  • Does the results table stand-alone (i.e., are you able to interpret the study from it?) Why or why not?

Use proper APA format, citations, and referencing.

RESEARCH DESIGN FOR ONE-WAY ANOVA

Introduction
Analysis of variance provides an understanding of the means of variables that are being
investigated. One way ANOVA incorporate both dependent and an independent variable where
the independent variable that is included in the study is usually a categorical variable which
contains two or more unrelated groups while the dependent variable is usually a continuous
variable that is measured on ratio or interval scale. There are important assumptions that need to
be considered to successfully ensure that the selected statistical test can be applied. Therefore,
there is number of assumptions that are critical in ensuring that one-way ANOVA is successfully
applied. Therefore the key assumptions include the dependent variable should be measured at the
interval or ration level, the observations made should be independent of each other, the
dependent variable that is being considered should normally be distributed and the need for
homogeneity of variances.
This research will incorporate afrobarometer dataset where the focus of the research will...
