You are required to research the Scott Peterson case and prepare a summary report of the events that led to his arrest and eventual conviction of the crimes. There was no direct evidence that lead to his convictions for first and second-degree murder. This case is a California State case, where for the first time, someone is on death row based solely on circumstantial evidence. Scott Peterson is currently on the death row for the killing of his wife and unborn child.
This assignment allows you to see a case all the way from the trial to the sentencing of an accused.
Tasks:

The Scott Peterson Case
Scott Lee Peterson was a fertilizer salesman who was born in San Diego, California in
October 1972. He was convicted in a high-profile double murder case in California that involved
his wife and his unborn baby. In the morning of 24th December 2002, Scott and his Wife Laci
who was pregnant had breakfast at their home in Modesto, California. Then Scott went for
fishing at Berkeley marina while his wife took the family’s dog for a walk. Later that day, their
neighbor found the dog wandering in front of the house by itself while still wearing a leash.
Before the end of the day, Scott reported the missing of her wife on the Christmas Eve with the
story gaining a lot of media attention.
Almost on 24th December 2002, Scott Peterson would turn out to become the prime
suspect in the case. Media law enforcement attention blew up when information regarding
Peterson’s numerous affairs. A message to a woman named Amber Frey whom he lied to several
times and had slept with her four times was the primary source of the media and law
enforcement attention. Frey would then become a key witness in the case as she agreed to tape
