Why is it important to consider the first session the beginning of discharge planning? Why
is it important to prepare an accurate and consistent discharge summary? Be sure to

The quality of discharge planning significantly enhances the clients’ recovery after the
termination of the counseling session. A client takes a big step when they admit that they have a
problem and seek the necessary care, however, a bigger step is procured when the client accepts
that they are fully recovered and can resume their recovery process without the guidance of the
