Counselling can be described as the process by which a counselor and a client agree
to set aside time to meet in a convenient setting to explore difficulties that a client could be
facing and come up with a suitable plan to deal with the situation successfully. Although
counseling sessions are aimed at assisting the client in dealing with the situation, some
counselors despite their good intentions and professional training are unable to help the client
to deal with his or her issues. In some cases, some counselors only make it worse for the
client. Experts in human psychology say that the right kind of counseling is much more
effective in most conditions than drug treatment.

Principles for Effective Implementation of an Action Plan

Effective counseling is a cooperative effort by both the client and the counselor and it
requires both parties to be fully committed towards the process. While change is a gradual
process, it takes time and a lot of effort to implement the discussions of a counseling session
