The transport industry is key to the economic development of any country in the world.
It’s among the top revenue generators for the governments especially in the freight sector. As
seen from the article, transport e.g. air transport plays a major economic role through various
ways e.g. job creation, taxes generation, growth of towns/cities neighboring airports etc. One of
the major trend observed is that transportation industry creates room for growth of other
economic sectors such as agriculture, education etc. This is made possible by the fact that
expansion in transportation industry brings improved infrastructures for easier and faster
transportation of goods, job creations, and more revenue to the government hence the
government can invest in other development projects, urbanization, technological advancement
in the field of transport e.g planes with a faster delivery speed etc. Dallas Forth Worth
International Airport has clearly shown economy of a country is greatly influenced by the
transport industry. Besides creating job opportunities to thousands of Texas residents, the airport
has brought rapid urbanization in Texas and this draws attention to investors to invest in the area
since the town is fast developing. The airport, also aids in generating fiscal benefits outside itself
since as more investors flock in the area, more industries are opened and hence these industries
generate taxes to the local goverments. The growth of housing sector inside and outside the
airport generates revenue to the governments.

How this trend affects the cost for carriers, business, customers as well as the related
industries
Growth of transport sector leads to growth in other developing sectors. This growth has an
impact on other businesses, customers, carriers and the related industries through increased

profits, collapse of some businesses, reduced transport cost to carriers service providers, creation
of new business opportunities, urbanization etc. as shown below.
As more technological advancement are adopted in the transport industry, it leads to creation
of faster and efficient means of transport. This leads to delivery of good and services on time and
this creates satisfaction to the company’s customers. This motivates the customer to demand
more of services from the involved companies and this creates an increase in profits for the
providers.
Advancement in transportation causes decline of some business e.g. with development of
super-fast planes that are able to transport more heavy and bulky goods within a short time, the
shipping industries are at a stake of collapsing since more people will prefer faster means of
transportation.
Growth of transport industry causes growth of telecommunication companies e.g. Airtel. This
because, there is need for communication between the various delivery companies and their
customers within the globe. Housing industries also grows at a higher rate as more houses are
built in areas where transport agencies are located e.g. around the airports, port harbors etc. This
generates income to the owners of the houses. Airports also creates new job opportunities inside
the airport through businesses e.g. fast food joints etc. Transport growth also leads to growth of
tourism industries around the world as tourists are able to visit any country of their choice. This
leads to growth of businesses e.g. hotels around the places that the tourists visit.
As it has been observed from the past, towns tend to grow rapidly in areas that have a good
transport system e.g. along busy roads. This attracts as investors to invest in this areas as

business is assured. This means that more job will be created and as more individuals flock to
settle in this areas hence growth of a town and this will be as a result of good transport system.
In agriculture, advancement in transport leads to more investment in horticultural farming by
farmers as they are assured that once harvested, their perishable produces will be fast delivered
to the target companies around the world
Economic costs/benefits derived from this trend.
As is common in every aspects of life, everything in life has a cost and its benefits.
Transport leads to growth of other industries and this comes with both economic costs and
benefits such as job creation, revenue generation, more business opportunities, technological
advancement in related field, global warming etc. as shown below
Growth of transport industries e.g. airports create job opportunities to various residents
either working inside the airport or those that have set their businesses within and around the
airport. This goes a long way in helping the country’s government to be more stable as their less
dependency rate from its citizens. A stable economy means a faster growth of a country.
Revenue generation. As seen from the article about Dallas Fort Worth International Airport,
the airport generates so much revenue to the government in form of taxes. More revenue means
that the country will have less national/international debts and this helps the gov...
