Cesare Lombroso's theory of the "born criminal" is one of the famous concepts that
dominated criminology in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. According to
Lombroso, a criminal is an immature, atavistic and evolutionary inferior being produced through
degeneration (Sacco and Kennedy, 2011). He argued that criminals comprise many of the
