be solved. explore the topic of how research is conducted in organizations to address
problems or issues. Then, select a company that is of interest to you, and respond to the following questions/topics:
1. Briefly describe your company. Identify potential problems or issues (current or future) that your company might
address with a research study.
2. What indicators are prevalent demonstrating that the company is effectively (or ineffectively) using research

Introduction
Research is the use of scientific methods to gather information for solving problems. Thus
a problem must exist for there to be a research. In business, the kind of information to be in research
include information on markets, competitors, and customers. Although research is of different
kinds, the main aim of any research is to help management in decision making.
The Research Process
The research process entails some steps which include the following; the very first step of
the research process is the identification and definition of the research question(s) problem (s).
This involves destemming in full details the issues that the research need to address. Though some
problems might be specific and others complex, the manager should define what the problems
affecting the organization are. A research proposal is then generated. The proposal should indicate
the questions to be addressed and second is the procedures through which the question will be
answered. The research proposal act as the researcher's guideline in developing research designs
and collection of data to be used in answering the research questions ( Rico & Aljian, 2009).
