My favorite science fiction cyborg
My favorite science fiction cyborg is Anita or Mia from the television series, Humans. Mia is a
stolen synth made by David Elster in the series. She is bought by the Hawkins family. Mia is my
favorite cyborg due to several reasons. First of all, she knows what love is. Love is what keeps
human beings together. Though being inhuman, she shows love than most people do. Through
her love character, Mia gets loved by everybody in the family. She cares for the youngest
daughter of the Hawkins family. In another incidence, she saves their son from being hit by a car
by throwing herself in front of the car to be hit instead. She portrays a future where robots love
and care for human beings.
Another thing which Mia leaves me to think about is her ability to have human feelings. Mia
falls in love with her employer at the cyber café. It is natural for people to fall in love, but it is
unnatural for machines to fall in love with a human being. I like this part very much for it leaves
me wondering and imagining if such a time will come. Can someone really fall in love with a
computer? Can a computer have feelings for a person? It is really interesting to see how Mia
goes through all these.
Another thing about Anita is the conflict she is able to create with Laura, Hawkins’s wife. Anita
is a beautiful synth and Laura envies her despite knowing that she is just a cyborg. Anita makes

the children will be confused. This shows a future ...
