The four Loves
Charity is the form of love that is defined as one which is benevolent and is mainly
focused on thinking favorably concerning fellow men. Charity, unlike all other forms of love is
considerate and thinks highly of others which in turn sparks honesty. This form of honesty that
resorts from love is what makes the basis for charity. According to C. S Lewis’ book, Eros is a
carnal type of love whose characteristics include animal sexual elements and makes up a relevant
ingredient in the aspect of love (lewis, 1991). Based on these definitions and a comparison to
charity, Eros is more bound to fail in most cases in contrast to the other loves.
Charity vs. Eros
There have been several people who have had to experience couples counselling while
pursuing Eros. This form of love is what forms the basis for marriage and sexual relationships
among people. The same kind of love is contradictory regarding morals, religious beliefs along
with other societal aspects that resort to demystify the diverse beliefs that constitute Eros. Eros
over time has been contextualized to a level where it can be measured just like success. Some of
