1.Do you think that the Korean War was merely a civil war in which the United States supported one side, or should it be considered an international war in which the United States used the United Nations to further its anticommunist policies? Why? Should the US have become involved in Korea because it was so far away?
2.Joseph McCarthy held congressional hearings in which he often used affiliation and hearsay to accuse people of being communists and a threat to the United States. What was unknown at the time was that while his methods were often distasteful--he did successfully identify some dangerous communists.
